With no Premier League football this past week because of another of these international breaks, let’s have a look at some of the main transfer rumours related to Everton this past week or so.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has been saying he doesn’t think the club will spend big this summer and will only be bringing in two or three players tops.
Well, that hasn’t stopped the media coming up with all sorts of rumours some of them maybe having something to them others pretty obviously just the usual paper talk.
The first of these stories is actually about a player already on the books at Everton and that’s Moise Kean. The young Italian striker arrived to much publicity in the summer of 2019 and his signing was hailed as a coup for the Blues.
But his time at Goodison Park hasn’t been successful and he has struggled for playing time first under Marco Silva and Duncan Ferguson both of whom seemed to have disciplinary issues with the then teenage forward.
When Carlo Ancelotti arrived, he might have hoped for more playing time under his compatriot but that wasn’t the case and he only had a few fleeting appearances in the team.
Anyway, he got a loan move away last year and has been enjoying his time at PSG where he has found the goalscoring touch he lacked at Everton.
Stories claim he will want to make his stay at the French champions into a permanent one but the Blues have slapped a £30 million plus price tag on him.
PSG might not want to pay that much for him but if they don’t’ make his loan a long-term deal Kean’s former club Juventus are also interested in having him back, if you believe certain media anyway.
And in return instead of cash one alternative for the Blues is to consider a player swap deal for one of more Juventus players and there are a few who have been regularly linked with the Toffees.
One of them is Adrien Rabiot who Ancelotti has previously managed when he was the coach at PSG. Rabiot is a very talented midfielder defensively solid and an excellent passer of the ball but he doesn’t offer a lot of attacking threat or goals and that’s what Everton need more of.
One player who would offer that at least on paper anyway is a team mate of Rabiot’s and another Juventus midfielder who seems surplus to requirements; Aaron Ramsey.
The Welsh player hasn’t managed to settle or hold down a regular place at the Serie A club since his move from Arsenal in 2019 and he could be added as a makeweight in a deal for Kean along with forward Douglas Costa.
Moving on from the Italian league to Spain and Real Madrid are also struggling with their finances following the impact of the response to Covid 19. The Spanish giants want to shave as much as they can from their wage bill this summer.
According to reports in the media just this weekend, Real have six players they want to sell this summer and one of them is Isco. The Spanish attacking midfielder can play centrally or on the flanks and has been repeatedly linked with Everton in the recent past.
Another Real Madrid player that the Blues might be considering is right-back Lucas Vasquez whose contract runs out at the end of this season.
The Blues really need reinforcements in this position and Vasquez would certainly fit the bill providing good solid defence and a quality attacking option on the wing too.
The final player to mention in this round-up is the Napoli defender Khalidou Kalibaly. The Senegal player is an outstanding defender who has been linked again and again with a number of top European clubs over the past year or so and now Everton are also being added to that group.
Apparently, Ancelotti wants his experience and nous to support his mainly young defenders and give the Toffees a genuine world-class centre-back.
This one does seem really unlikely though as surely the Blues have enough cover in this position with Mason Holgate, Ben Godfrey, Micheal Keane, Yerry Mina and the two younger players on loan Jarrad Branthwaite and Lewin Gibson.
Well these and other rumours will no doubt continue and intensify over the next few months as we countdown towards the next transfer window opening this summer.
